"Thank you soooo much for taking the time to help me keep a very precious item alive."
That's what Tonya said when she received her newly refurbished bible. I had repaired pages, inserted new headbands and marker ribbons, and replaced the leather cover (my ability to pare leather definitely benefited from the additional practice!). Please let me know if you have a favorite book in need of repair. I assure you I will treat it with the loving care it deserves.
On July 21, I was delighted to be a guest on the Triad Arts program of WFDD, our local NPR radio station. Please read or listen to my interview that focuses on my time in Romania: http://wfdd.org/post/meet-artist-bookbinder-anne-murray
I have been busy this summer as Anne's Books and Papers is growing. I am teaching workshops, exhibiting, and connecting with people. First and foremost, however, I am creating. I am enjoying spending time in my studio designing and creating new books. I taught at Turtle Island Preserve for one day of their Girl's Camp. The challenges of doing bookbinding in the wilderness were minimal and the scenery and the enthusiasm of the girls more than compensated! See below for pictures of teaching and of creating.
